Social
MUST is a fun and carefree club that accepts people of all ages and snowboarding levels. The club organises social events and activities to help create relationships between all members. These social events give members the opportunity to meet new people and develop new relationships.
The club runs a number of social events. In 2010, MUST organise a trip to
Sorrento for a weekend in March, where a group of 20 members camped at the
beach, enjoying the sound of the waves crashing and the sun setting. Over the
weekend, we carpooled to the back beach where we enjoyed some sunbaking and
beach cricket, and where we jumped off the rocks into the deep blue water.
We had drinks at the Sorrento Pub at lunchtime and shared gelato in the
afternoon. Pizzas and fish and chips were ordered for dinner and we sat around
chatting and playing games. Once the sun had set, we all made our way to the
various pubs in Sorrento and danced to the music being played by the local DJ.
By the end of the weekend everyone had gotten to know each other and we were
ready for the MUST year to begin.
Throughout the year, MUST organises snowboarding BBQs and pub nights for all to attend. These casual events are to cement bonds between people and to talk about possible snow trips coming up in the year. Free sausages and drinks are provided at the BBQs and drinks are paid for at pub nights. These events encourage our members to be involved in trips throughout the year and help people feel comfortable at the University of Melbourne, as friends are created through the club.

2012 Social Events
The Melbourne University Snowboard Team is one of the most socially active clubs around the campus! All throughout the year we throw loads of different parties and have cool gatherings to meet fellow MUST members. Don't forget to keep checking back at this section to see the new events that have been organised.
SEMESTER 1
Tramp Training
To kick off the semester with a sweet first event for our members MUST held an epic tramp training session in Donvale on Wednesday March 7th. Members had a great time doing flips on trampolines and into foam pits all night.
It didn't matter if you had never boarded before or were a seasoned veteran of the sport, the tramp training night was an absolute blast for everyone that attended!
First BBQ
Throughout the year MUST have loads of BBQs for their members that gives us all an opportunity to catch up and get info or tickets for the other great events that are coming up.
Our first BBQ for 2012 was on Thursday 8th March and there will be loads more to come so make sure you check your facebook and this events page!
Beach Trip
MUST rented a luxurious beach house in Torquay which was packed with an awesome group of MUSTies keen to party and kick off the semester!
The crew headed out to Torquay on Friday 9th March for a weekend packed with partying at night, surfing, sandboarding, and kicking back on the beach during the day before heading back to reality on Sunday.
The beach party is a great way to meet other members and with the success it has every year with those that go, it's sure to be a longstanding tradition to kick off the year!
Back To Uni Boat Party
The 'Back To Uni Boat Party' is going to be held on Wednesday 14th of March, and the boat will board at 7:00PM at Federation Warf.
The tickets cost $49 and can be purchased here. Ticket price includes all food and alcohol on the boat so there's no excuse not to get rowdy!
The theme is village people so come dressed as a member of The Village People: Policeman, Cowboy, Biker, Sailor/G.I, Construction Worker, Indian, or The Missing 7th Member.
Semester 2

2011 Social Events
2011 was a massive year for the members of MUST, with our ‘elite’ sportsmen and women taking on Sorrento, Melbourne, Wanaka NZ, Mt Buller, and the Yarra river; fuelled by excessive amounts of adrenaline and the ancient and revered MUST ‘love punch’ recipe.
SEMESTER 1
O-Week 2011
MUST loves it when seasons begin. Any season will do. The start of a semester is just like the start of a snow season, except the snow is replaced by endless pages of lecture notes, descending upon the unwary student in a soul crushing blizzard. And so, we celebrate!
Pub crawls were the standard party MO for this stage of 2011, offering new and old members of MUST the chance to reunite after the long snowless summer and welcome new recruits into the fold. Invariably, tensions between MUST and our arch-nemesis MUSKI boiled over, and were settled in the only way we know how, a boat race! (MUST dominated MUSKI in the 2011 boat race, of course)
Summer Camp 2011
In early 2011, a Sorrento beach house transcended itself, to become the ‘Temple of Rad’ for a weekend. Ablinding whirlwind of fluorescent clothing, heavy consumption of heavy beverages and half-arsed attempts at surfing were just some of the things that adventurous members of MUST got up to. The more incriminating tales will have to be left for those who were there to tell…
Generations of MUSTies to come will talk of the legendary 2011 Summer camp, at least until the 2012 trip comes around. You WILL be sorry if you miss it.
Tramp Training 2011
Donvale Gymnastics centre was host to MUST’s tramp training night. A departure from the party life, but a fantastic time nonetheless, the tramp training let MUSTies show their gymnastic skills (or mostly, lack thereof). Everyone was doing flips by the end of the night! Members also had the opportunity to try out one of two amazingly ghetto tramp boards, assembled by loyal MUST committee members while possibly still drunk from the Summer Camp. Needless to say the boards did not survive the night. If you’ve ever wanted to screw around doing flips into a foam pit or on a trampoline, come along to this year’s session!
Pre-Season Party 2011
Everyone loves snow, so we invited EVERYONE to our preseason party! The Garage was transformed into a live action Toy Story for a night as snowsports teams from all the other unis came to party the MUST way, and beg the snow gods for some decent conditions in the fast approaching winter. All you can eat and all you can drink…. What more can you ask for?
Rail Jam 2011
You know you are a member of the best club at the Uni when you can skip class to ride a jib setup in the middle of the campus. We trucked in some snow, set up an in-run, kicker and box, and then had a sick time riding it. And if that doesn’t sound awesome enough, there was also a free BBQ and drinks right next to it!
Semester Two 2011
MUST members are hard. Classes started up again the day after VIC IVs finished and MUSTies took it like the champs that they are. Luckily there were still many more kick-ass events in the works for the weary scholars.
Pub Night 2011
A regular occurrence on the MUST calendar, a number of pub nights/crawls take place throughout each semester each with free beer for all members. What better way to kick off the second half of the year! The veterans of the recent trips caught up at The Public Bar for some free drinks and shared memories of the good times just had.
Tight Ass Tuesdays 2011
MUST is always looking out for its members, so even after the prime trip season has passed we ran carpool trips up to Buller on the student discount day, Tuesday.
Extreme Lawn Bowls 2011
As the winter goes into decline and the snow melts, MUST does its best to keep everyone sane. What better way than with Lawn Bowls and discounted booze after a long day at uni! MUST members got together with RMITsurf and MUsurf to roll some balls around on grass and get sloshed, because as you know, MUSTies are just hard like that.
Snow and Surf Boat Party 2011
Not even the Yarra is safe from MUST, who decided to throw the greatest boat party that ever was, and ever will be. Once again we got together with our amigos in MUsurf and RMITsurf for an all food and grog included boat trip that would make anyone’s mother weep. While it is true that us snow types prefer the water beneath us to be more solid than liquid, we confidently got wasted knowing that the surfers would gladly pull us out of the river like the Bondi Rescue stars they all secretly wish they were.
Snowball 2011
As the semester dragged on, there was still a beacon of hope. The Snowball was a massive one, much like the Pre-Season Party, featuring cameos from a number of other University snow clubs. MUST got out their best ice age themed formal gear, and then got so wild that Encino man would have been put to shame.
